Soft rubber or hard? A: Shackcom door stopers are solid rubber stoppers. They are firm but not hard, and they work well on both tile and hardwood. You do have to pre-load them a bit on some surfaces, which means just holding the stop and gently pulling the door up on it a little to develop some pressure between the door and the floor. If you do that, they appear to work on any surface. Q(2): Can you stack these for doors that are 2" above the floor? A: My doors are 2 inches above the floor and these doorstops works fine. It is nearly twice as high as a regular door stop. NOTE: the gap between the door and floor doesn't exceed 2.3inch Q(3): Will it hold a heavy door? A: We are using on old 6 panel solid pine doors that are very heavy. These door stops are very solid and good quality. They are holding doors with out any problem. I don't think the rubber doorstops will ever be a problem, they are very well made. Q(4): will this work on carpet floors and bedroom doors? A: Yes will work on carpet. The stop door is what keeps the door open. However, you may need to apply more pressure to the butt end of the door stop as you push the wedge under the door to secure it. The amount of pressure needed will depend on the thickness and depth of the pile of the carpet. Q(5): do they skid on tiles? do they skid off or hold? A: I have several of these and am using them on three different types of tile (more textured and less textured) as well as hardwood. The rubber composition is a good compromise that holds well against floors without being too flexible. When setting them, just place your foot in front of it and pull the door gently toward you to compress the rubber a bit (pre-load it) and it holds great. Q(6): What Is It Made Of? Are these hard or can these bend in half? A: Made of rubber and stainless steel. Shackcom rubber door stops are firm but not hard, can't bend these in half. Q(7): What is the height of the shorter end? How tall is the tallest end? A: Shorter end is 0.05 inch. Tallest end is 1.2 inch. Q(8): Can these prevent a door from opening if put on the other side of the door. For extra security? A: They are heavy duty but I think that a hard push would make it move. Q(9): will these work on a wood deck? A: Sure! Keep in mind the height of the "hump" of the door stop wedges, and make sure the door you want to hold open isn't higher up.
