This listing is for packs of 25 each, fly tying hooks for tying bass bugs and poppers as shown in the photo. These are a new, old stock, discontinued hooks by an unknown producer. I suspect they were made by Mustad but cannot verify it. The hooks have a Black Nickel finish with needle points. These hooks have a turned, inline hook eye as shown in the photo, and have kinks in the shank, so are designed to solidly hold whatever body is applied. This is a strong and very sharp hook, and a medium light wire, very well suited to fly rod topwater flies for bass and other game fish. I suspect these were originally intended to be used in a mold, for expandable foam bodies, or could have possibly been used for a jig type, such as a Brewer slider style. I have no way to confirm this however. I obtained these hooks with the thought they would work well as a popper or slider hook, and I was correct in that thought! The size appears to be a size 1/0 hook to me when I compare them to other hooks that I use. You can see the dimensions in the photo. I've used these hooks primarily to make pencil style poppers and sliders, with foam cylinders or tapered cork or foam floats for the body and I epoxy the body to the hook, after a solid thread wrap on the shank. I'm sure that other cork materials or balsa wood could also be used.
